Within the "internationalist socialist union" for 71 years, Azerbaijan, which declared its independence as one of the other 15 allied republics that was freed from the "prison of nations" that Vladimir Ulyanov-Lenin, who created the ideological foundations of that union, who believed that socialism will not remain as a green island in some part of the world, once said about Tsarist Russia, could not get rid of the "vertigo of success" syndrome. Even the threats of Armenia, which not only made its territorial claims against Azerbaijan since 1988, but also demonstrated its insistence on realizing those claims at the expense of bloodshed, seemed ineffective against this syndrome in the society.en_US
