Abstract

Language policy occupies a very important place in the large-scale political-ideological activity of national leader Heydar Aliyev. Heydar Aliyev's language building policy formed a whole system as a part of his national state building policy. Heydar Aliyev treated the Azerbaijani language not only as an ordinary means of communication, but as a national treasure of a nation with an ancient history, rich culture, and social and cultural position in the modern world. After coming to power in 1969, national leader Heydar Aliyev left his eternal signature in history as the savior of our national language. The active and consistent language policy implemented by Great Leader Heydar Aliyev in the 70s and 80s of the last century raised the spirit of national self-return, national self-awareness and national freedom in Azerbaijan. Heydar Aliyev's speech in his mother tongue at the 50th anniversary event of Azerbaijan State University (BSU) was received with great sympathy by our intellectuals and gave them moral support.
